Simply Speaking...

Performing shouldn't feel tricky, nor should it terrify you. Katrina believes that we are all capable of communicating with confidence and competence, and that the journey towards mastering this life skill is a simple and accessible one.

During Simply Speech sessions, you won't experience any 'old school' recitation styles, rehearsed gestures, or contrived communication. Katrina’s goal is to help strengthen skills to find your unique, natural voice, so you can use it to communicate with ease and comfort - no matter how big or small your communication goal may be.

Through communication coaching sesssions, you will find a greater sense of freedom, flexibility and finesse in your communication while honing skills which will serve you both professionally and personally.

Meet Katrina

BJ/BA, GC-VOICEST, GDTL (Secondary), ATCL, LDPA

Katrina holds a Bachelor of Journalism/Bachelor of Arts (Drama and Writing) from the University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning (Secondary) from the University of Southern Queensland as well as a Graduate Certificate of Voice Studies from the Victorian College of the Arts. She also holds a Level 4 Diploma in Teaching - Associate of Trinity College London (ATCL) Speech and Drama, as well as Licentiate (LDPA) and Associate (ADPA) Diplomas in Drama and Performance from the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). Katrina received Barbara Sisley awards for achieving the highest mark in QLD for both her AMEB Licentiate and Associate diplomas.

Her teaching history is extensive and diverse, having worked for many years as an acting and modelling coach at various national talent agencies while also teaching groups and individual speech and drama students at a number of Brisbane schools.

Katrina currently teaches over 60 individual students a week at All Hallows’ School in Brisbane in addition to working with individuals and teams as Simply Speech. Katrina served on the Management Committee of the Communication, Speech, and Performance Teachers (CSPT) Inc. for a number of years and was Co-Editor of the Association’s publication, The Quarterly Voice.

She is an accomplished public speaker, and an active member of her local Toastmasters International community. She serves as Vice-President of Education at Waterloo Bay Toastmasters Club, and Vice-President of Membership at Leading Edge Advanced Toastmasters Club. Katrina enjoys competing in local and international prepared, impromptu, humorous, and evaluation contests and she has received a number of awards and accolades for her performances on the competitive circuit. She regularly presents speeches and keynotes at conferences, and has been featured twice as a special guest on ABC Radio Brisbane to discuss debating and communication skills.

Katrina continues to enjoy performing on camera, regularly hosting and presenting content on screen for a variety of corporate and advertising clients. Recently, Katrina appeared as a cast member on the Adventure All Stars TV series which was broadcast nationally on the Seven Network – she participated as an RSPCA QLD ambassador. She is also a budding voiceover artist, lending her voice to a variety of corporate and commercial narrations.

As a highly experienced and award-winning public speaker, Katrina regularly assists speakers and presenters with writing quality speeches and preparing the final product. She'll ensure you feel confident to present, while keeping your audience engaged.

Specialising in AMEB speech and drama exam preparation as well as eisteddfod and performance work. Katrina works with students on speech and drama skills including effective reading and performance of prose, poetry, mime, storytelling, talks, and more.
